The Noel Sheedy tournament is held in Killaloe every summer in memory of this young Smith O' Brien's hurler. Aged seven Noel tragically died of meningitis. This year over twenty teams from Clare, Limerick and Tipperary competed over a full week end of action with Ahane of Limerick emerging as deserving winners over Smith O' Briens after extra time in the Final. Held on the Bank Holiday Sunday & Monday the twenty teams were reduceddown to four.
On Sunday Ahane defeated a strong Clonlara team in one semi while in the other Smith O Briens beat fellow county men O ' Callaghans Mills. In a hard fought and tight battle the game had to go to extra time before a winner could be reached. The young Limerick men retaining their title.
Well down to all involved with the teams and the organisers of this ever growing tournament.
